Ok, I'm from Oahu and was on vacation a few weeks ago and I just had to try shrimp daddy's because after following them on IG I just had to try it to believe it!
Sorry to say but it was not good. I know the couple/owners were trying their bestest to replicate Hawaii's famous garlic shrimp. In my opinion we have THE best Shrimp truck there is on the island....with that said, After paying $15 for a plate I made sure it didn't go to waste !!!! I literally had to beg my son and husband to help me eat it, but they too even agree that it just tasted burnt and the seasoning was just OFF! Yuck, I don't even know what kind of taste or flavoring they were trying to go for. I seriously, thought it was the worst garlic shrimp I've ever had. My family family even said my garlic shrimp tasted way better. The only saving grace for me on the plate was the little chunks of pineapple sprinkled with Li Hing Mui...
Maybe I'm being bias because I'm fortunate to enjoy real garlic shrimp in Hawaii and know how it supposed to taste like. I don't even know what kind of flavoring they were going for. I can't even say it was ok....
Sorry .....it was was pretty disappointing. -

The pictures of shrimp plates from Shrimp Daddy on social media always gets me drooling. I finally got to try this out on a Sunday at Smorgasburg LA.
The line for this was extremely long, probably the longest lines of all. My friends and I ordered a total of four plates to share among us since we wanted to also try many other great vendors at Smorgasburg. We waited quite a bit to get to the cashier, probably almost half an hour, but got our food relatively quick once we put in our order.
It looked just as good as the pictures you see on social media and it smells even better. The shrimp they used were huge and super high quality. The texture of the shrimp was great and you can tell that they're fresh! The only thing is I'm not a fan of shell on shrimp and it sucks how most of the sauce and flavor is on the shell. The rice was well made and the macaroni salad was also good.
Overall, it was great. It looked good, smells good. Portion size wise, it was a little small for the price tag but that's something I don't mind. I don't think about it or crave it, but was a nice experience and I enjoyed every bite. It was great so I would recommend to try but I don't think I would be a regular. -

Went to the 626 Night Market in Arcadia a few weeks ago and was pumped to try Shrimp Daddy! They were located right by the entrance and thankfully we came early and didn't have to wait too long in line before we ordered!
I got "The Plate" ($15.00) which came with shrimp, rice, mac salad and pineapple. As a note, they only take cash, so be sure to hit up an ATM before you come!
The shrimp was amazing and I highly suggest eating it whole with the shell and all! It paired really well with the rice and I'm a sucker for some mac salad! The only regret I have is not getting it served in a pineapple - so I guess I'll have to come back!
P.S. Try to come early, the line gets crazy and the food takes a bit to come out because they make it to order! -

Hands down by far the best spot I have tried at Smorgasburg LA! Definitely worth all the hype. You have two options: The Plate or The Boat. Personally I prefer the plate; a little cheaper, easier to carry without fear of dropping everything, and seems to be the same amount of food.
In the plate you get their Hawaiian garlic butter shrimp, Hawaiian mac salad, rice with furikake, and pineapple with li-hing! At the time of this review the price for the plate was $15 which I think is more than reasonable. If you're looking to get more Instagram worthy pictures go with their Pineapple Boat for $18.
The Hawaiian garlic butter shrimp is packed with flavor! Don't worry about removing the shell, they make it nice crispy and crunchy that you just eat everything tail and all. All of the sides compliment the shrimp well and balance out the dish!
Again BEST dish at Smorg!!!
